Get involved intro section

There are many ways you can help

You do not need investigative experience to make a difference. Finding Kids relies on people throughout the community to support the work, strengthen local connections, and help more families know where to turn.

Some opportunities are ongoing. Others depend on your location, experience, or availability. Tell us how you would like to help, and we’ll connect you with the right opportunity.

Have a professional skill to share? Tell us about your background, and we’ll help identify where your experience can be most useful.

Help with events, outreach, community education, and the day-to-day projects that keep Finding Kids connected to the communities we serve.

Represent Finding Kids in your county by building local relationships, sharing resources, and helping families and agencies know where to turn.

Help with setup, check-in, guest support, outreach, and other needs at Finding Kids events throughout the year.

Put your professional skills to work supporting communications, outreach, research, donor relations, and day-to-day nonprofit operations.

Opportunities are available for qualified professionals with relevant investigative or law enforcement experience. Roles are reviewed individually based on credentials and current needs.

Licensed private investigators with law enforcement backgrounds can apply to join the roster working accepted missing-child cases in coordination with the lead agency.

Gain hands-on nonprofit experience while supporting outreach, events, communications, administration, or other approved projects.

Bring Your Experience to the Search

Investigate for us

Retired law enforcement professionals and licensed private investigators make this work possible. If you have the experience to work leads, document findings, and operate within agency protocols, we want to hear from you.

Finding Kids works with licensed private investigators who understand how to support a lead agency without getting in its way.

Investigators work cases in the communities they know and pass their findings directly to law enforcement.

What we provide

We add value to your case

When a missing child case needs more dedicated hours, Finding Kids adds licensed private investigators who know how to work inside law enforcement protocols. They pursue leads on the street and online, document what they find, and pass actionable information directly to the assigned detective. In parallel, Parent Support Advocates keep families informed and help organize information the investigation needs.

Support meaningful nonprofit projects while gaining experience in outreach, events, communications, or operations.

Help with data entry, mailings, donor support, research, and other projects that keep the organization running.

Bring your team into the work through employee volunteering, in-kind support, community outreach, or a Finding Kids presentation.

Host a fundraiser or community event that introduces more people to Finding Kids and helps support the work.
